Came to Juneau in 1970 with her husband and toddler.    Housing was already a critical issue, and it was a challenge to find a place to live, and this problem continues today. After retiring officially in 2006 she took time to care for the newest grandchild, Meadow.  In 2009, she went  to work as a Case Manager with Southeast Senior Services where she still is today.  She works with vulnerable seniors, promoting independence and healthy living.  It is a rewarding and energizing experience and we learn so much from our seniors. Family Promise is such  fundamental and substantive  help to reach out to families of all persuasions, size, and general make up.   It’s always so great to see a family find permanent housing and become an integral part of the community and it enriches our community at the same time.

Jane is Juneau born and raised.  She loves her family and friends, and enjoys social times. That makes Covid extremely difficult, but having 5 grandkids, living with 3 and seeing the other 2 on weekends and school breaks keeps her busy!  She was taught to have an open mind and not everyone has to value the same! Just need to be kind!!

Juneau has been her home since 2005 and she can’t imagine living anywhere else. After years of being an office manager, she got her Realtor's license in 2006 and very soon realized this is what she was meant to do as she love houses and people. She co-founded & co-owns Platinum Real Estate Group while also serving on many boards and committees.  She's been married to Todd Gartley, who works for CBJ, for 14 years. She has 3 children, 6 grandchildren and a great granddaughter who all reside in Washington State. She believe everyone deserves a roof over their head and is very passionate about Family Promise.  She feels so blessed for what she has and wants to give back in any way that she can.

She is thrilled to be joining the Family Promise Board! As an elementary school counselor, she has been amazed at the wrap-around support and life-changing results that FP families receive. She is excited to support this work. Her husband and her have only been in Juneau for 8 years, but have lived in Southeast for over 30 each. She was a teacher in Pelican for 12 years and "retired" to tender troll salmon and be self-employed

After 10 years in the field of biomedical engineering and research, she moved to Juneau in 1996 and has been a teacher in the Juneau School District for 24 years. She currently teaches math and computer science, coaches robotics, and advises the TMHS National Honor Society.  It was through NHS that she became involved in FPJ by taking 1 week/semester to be hosts and make meals. She was not confident it would go well, but the high school students loved contributing their time, making meals, and entertaining the children. She has a 20-year old daughter that was introduced to Family Promise through NHS, and continues to volunteer with them in Bozeman, where she is a junior at MSU
